#CarlingfordSwag

Hey guys hey !

This week on Monday and Tuesday we were in Carlingford Adventure Centre in Louth.
We left school at 7 am and got there at around nine. We were then straight into Activities.

The first activity was laser tag in the forest. This was really fun. We played lots of different games using the laser guns. It was like we were in a video game or something then we went back and had lunch.

Then we went and did lots of mini games in a field. It was quite funny. Our instructor was very amused by one of the girls Scottish accent. We called the instructor E-dog. We got gems for winning each mini-game. There were three groups and we collected the most.

We went out that night aswell for a Night Walk. We walked through the dark forest blind folded. When we finished we went back and scared the other group. They screamed so much ha ha! Then we went through a storm drain on the way back. It was scary at first but once you did it you were grand.

Then we went back to the centre and went to our rooms. We had lots of food. We were like pigs in the room eating all the crisps, sweet and jellies we could stuff into ourselves.I felt kinda sick afterwards though.

Then we had to get up really early the next morning for our activity. That morning we did body zorbing, it was so much fun. I went a bit crazy bashing everyone around. We also went into a maze in the pitch dark. It had three floors to it. You felt like Spiderman or something going around the place.

Then that afternoon we went Kayaking. It was fun but sore on the muscles. It was also freezing. We wore wetsuits from the morning group. They were still wet as it rained over lunch. Then we went back to the warmth of the Centre.

Then we got ready to get back on the bus to bring us back. When we got  home we were tired but happy.

Results Week

Hi, this week on the 11th of September I received my Junior Cert Results. Surprisingly I did well. I expected worse and I felt like I did worse coming out of the exams. I am delighted with the grades I got. I got all honours and I was really happy with 10 B's and 1 C. My parents were also happy. Thank God.

But that wasn't the best part about Wednesday. No, the best part was going to Time afterwards. Time is a venue in Naas and they hold under 18 events. It was a great night. Although we standing in the rain. And the minute we got to the top of the queue, we had to go back to give someone there ticket. It was still an amazing night.

The worst part was going into school the next morning. We all thought we would be fine but I was tired and cranky. But then we were going on trip that afternoon, just to make matters worse. But we got a bus and we actually enjoyed the trip so it was okay.

The Trip was in Castletown House in Celbridge. It is a beautiful house that has magnificent surroundings. We didnt get to walk around them. But I bring my dog for walks down there sometimes and she loves it. The river Liffey flows through it and its a nice peaceful place to relax and think.

Thats pretty much it I think. I'm going to leave you with this video. It was the last song played at time and I think it is a good song.

Tabei, Tereshkova and Cornaro

Needless to say this year we got some rather unusual names. Still, they do mean something. Tabei, Tereshkova and Cornaro are all women who achieved spectacular things. As the school hopes we will in the future also.

Tabei (My Class)

Source

This is Junko Tabei. She is the first woman to climb mount Everest. This is a spectacular achievement. Not only that she then went on to climb the seven highest mountains in the World. I just about climbed Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.

Tereshkova

This is Valentina Tereshkova. She was the first women to go into Space. This was huge as before this only men were considered important enough to be astronauts. This was a huge step for Gender Equality.

Cornaro

This is Elena Cornaro. She is the first woman to receive a degree. This was huge as it encouraged other women to get a degree. But although she had a degree in those times women were not allowed to work. So she dedicated the rest of her live to charity.

Workshops

On Wednesday 4th of September all TY's had Workshops. I could write about every detail of each of the workshops. But I won't. I will give you the Highlights of each one.

The first one was with a man called Austin Dunne. He does a lot about finding who you are and how we are all different in our own way. It was interesting to say the least. We were doing Karate at one stage and we all had a laugh while still feeling crazy. It was a good laugh and a great way to start the day.

The second one was a Workshop on energy and massaging. This was a bit of a weird one. I didn't quite get what she was talking about. But I admired her ability to believe that people had energy and that they could share it with people. The massaging was interesting but I wasn't good very good according to my partner.

The last one was the most memorable by far. It was called Positive Parties. It was a workshop on being positive and staying happy. We tried to find many different ways of wearing underwear. Me and my Partner re-invented the training bra. She taught us how to channel a positive experience. One thing she told us that helps when were upset is to listen to a positive song. I have posted mine below.

Up and Running

First few Days of TY finished. Getting settled in to school life again. TY isn't exactly normal school life though. All my classes are different. I'm trying things I never done before. I had my first ever technology class the other day. Needless to say I'm not going to be a world class engineer or architect. And having done my first art class in two years I realize I'm not going to be the next Da Vinci or Picasso either. Although it was interesting to try new things. I'm looking forward to the rest of the year now.
