Mini Company Competition: Bakewave

This Tuesday 11th we had our Mini Company Competition in the school Library. We got to set up our stand and display our product. (Picture on the Left).

Our Product was a brownie in a mug. You basicall took our ingredients added oil and water and put it in the microwave. Its a really good product for people who love the taste of homemade food but maybe don't like all the work involved

We also had to give a presentation to the judges. I was really nervous about it and to be honest I messed up pretty bad. I sort of embarrassed myself. But in the end we won best marketing plan and I'm really happy about how the day went.

Equations, Graphs and Presentations....

Hey Guys,

Last Friday we spent the day in the hall presenting our Science Projects as part of the SciFest Competition. Although our project to us didn't seem to be extremely unique or inventive, the judges seemed to love it as the science was sound and it was well presented.

Our projected was hugely based around the topic of Basketball. Officially our project was called 'Which surface is it easier to play Basketball on?'. Basically the project was which surface causes the ball to bounce higher. What we did was we measured the Potential Energy of the Basketball after it hit each surface. To find the Potential Energy we had to use an equation which I am not going to bore you with. In the end we found that concrete is the best surface because it absorbs less energy.

As I don't play basketball or any sport like that, it is clear that I mainly looked after the science and figures end of things. I also kinda got a bit controlling when it came to presenting and designing the poster. In the end it did look good.

I had great fun doing the project, and my group and I put a lot of effort into the project. This hard work obviously paid off as we got through to the next stage in Tallaght IT in April. We are going to work really hard to prepare for that.
