Calamity Jane

Last week was the ending party for our school musical 'Calamity Jane'. I was trying to avoid writing this post because I didn't want it to be over. Now that we've had the end party it is officially finished, so I guess I better tell you about it

Cast and Chorus

When the show week finally came it was great to see everything we've been working on for months finally come together. Everyone put in so much hard work over the months. Even with all the stress and panic that usually comes with productions. It was an amazing experience and I wouldn't change a thing (well maybe a few things but I'm not going to get into that.)

Calamity and the Colonel

I have made some great friends over the months and I got to work with people in many different years in the school.

My Ty year is going to be a bit more empty without the constant rehearsals and work but It will always be something I'll remember.

Being a stage manager and a part of this musical has made think that I might like to go into production or theatre when I'm older.

Jabba Jabba Jembe

Each class in TY spent a day at a Workshop on African Drums.
A man called David came in and showed us how to play some rhythms and here is some of them put together as a group below.

We also watched a video of Bob Geldolf in Africa.
It showed us what living conditions were like in Africa.
David also told us about the time he spent in Africa learning about African drumming.

We also watched a video on how to make a Jembe.
It was really interesting and it showed us that a lot of time went into making one and that Jembe's are special to people in Africa.

Overall it was a really good workshop and I really enjoyed it.
I hope we get to perform something on TY night about it.
